Welcome to "Big Girl Club"!

This weekend has been jam packed with birthdays, alcohol, music and great food. Oh yeah, and boys. I also learned how to play my first song on the guitar- Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.

T's birthday was this weekend, she turned 22 and has now been inducted into the what we like to call "Big Girl Club". I will let her tell you all about the weekend, since it was her birthday and I do not remember much of it.

So TN and I have been spending a decent amount of time together over the past two weeks. He is really sweet and I kinda like him. Thursday night he came over and we watched a movie and ate ice cream, just what I needed after a LONG week! Friday he came out after work and met up with us to celebrate T's bday. He also took care of my drunk ass by buying me pizza and making sure I got home safely. What a sweet heart! And any smart guy would know that food is the way to a drunk girls heart! Especially mine. I tend to get in this "zone" when I'm drunk and my stomach becomes a bottomless pit that just needs more and more food. Apparently Saturday night as I was trying to scarf down my second huge slice of pizza, I tried to get everyone to stay so I could go grab another slice. I seriously was not hungry until dinner time on Sunday.

Sunday C and I joined T for her Family Bday dinner at El Vez. It has been a while since I have been there, and let me tell you... I have missed those pomegranate margaritas and corn on the cob SO MUCH! Later, T and I went to The Fire to see a band that we discovered last spring during a show at World Cafe Live.

Illinois is a fun local band and the singer plays a banjo for a few songs. They have a bunch of crazy sounds in their songs but I cant think of any other band I know that I can compare them to. Check them out though if your looking for something new to listen to. Toy Soldier was the other band we saw play. I LOVE them! The singer has such a great voice and hes so cute. They have this blues type sound and you just cant not move to their music.

The Fire is a little hole in the wall that draws a small crowd of Northern Libs locals. I would have never even known about this place if it wasn't for my friend Steph. She pretty much is their marketing intern and helps set up shows and promotes them.

That pretty much sums up the highlights of my weekend. R will have to blog soon, maybe I will assign her a day to make sure she actually contributes!

I'm out...

peace.

asinine!

So L previously mentioned about me and her going on Kelly drive and about how I am into running. Now, I sort of dislike when people talk about working out but since she started it I'll enlighten you on my run the other day. I was dreading this run for about 3 days because I knew it was time for my long run. It needed to be 7 miles in order to be ready for a 1o mile run on march 7. It just so happened that there were winds up to 60 mph this day though. However, I went for it cause Ken-bo, the insane running expert/dad said that I had to be tough.
The wind was sort of similar to this...
and I was sort of similar to this..
Overall, I did survive the run, I'd say it was probably 8 miles though. I mean if you consider the running in place as the wind and I were battling! Only got a few welts from the leaves slapping me in the face.. and I avoided getting to much in my eyes. It also allowed me to see how comical/friendly people can be in philadelphia. Instead of the normal run by and act like you don't see one another, I had people not only smiling but laughing. Apparently they found it ridiculous to be running in the wind as well. It was sort of nice for once. Can't say I'd recommend it, or ever plan to do it again! Thanks Ken-bo, I wasn't able to walk for a few days after!!

Vday Lovin'

It's official ... I have a Valentine!

Okay, okay he is three years old but still.. I've got one.

The little boy that I babysit, Oscar, surprised me this morning with a homemade valentine's day card and a box of Godiva chocolates - gosh, he is only three and still knows how to win over the ladies. My card is a beautiful piece of red construction paper with carefully placed scribbles of blue, red and orange magic markers. The chocolates are a delectable selection of Godiva's finest! Yum! He proceeded to help me unwrap the box and pick out the first chocolate I should try... of course, he picked out the truffle - my favorite! As I was driving home down Kelly Drive I realized something... I should always have a three-year-old valentine. Duh! Why didnt I think of this sooner? He is adorable, he always lets me know how he feels, and he doesn't expect anything in return. Playing with his Thomas the train table is gift enough for him. And then to top off all of this sweetness, as I am leaving he says "Happy Valentine's Day. Thanks for the chocolates!" Lol. What a cutie!

I hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day!

Love.

I apologize...

... You may not all be aware of exactly what a "hammer punch" is (refer to the post titled - 'Buddha Belly Blunder')but no worries here is a lovely picture of L & I in 'hammer punch' (L) and 'five star' (C) form...
*don't worry - no one was injured during this photo shoot!
...and yes, my teeth are silver. it's called a grill.. and an obvious necessity for a lil wayne dance party.

Buddha Belly Blunder

Allow me to introduce myself ...

You can call me C. T & L have been peer pressuring me to post. As of late, it seems that all of our conversations begin with "Are you blogging?" or "Have you blogged today?". I'm begining to get nervous that if I don't blog soon someone will hurt me while I'm sleeping or L will hammer punch me when I'm not looking. So as a result of my fear of being hammer punched, I have been constantly pondering what my first blog topic will be. Problem solved! Here we goo..

This afternoon I was on my way to work in CC. (I use public transportation to get there so obviously it is always an experience!) I am just sitting there reading a self magazine when a person approches me and leans in for a handshake. Now, three years ago I would have felt bad turning down the opportunity to shake hands with a stranger but L thankfully has taught me better and I now know that it is okay to say "no" when a stranger wants to touch me. So as the person (and I say person bc I'm not really sure if it was a man or a woman) moves for the shake I awkwardly smile and shake my head 'no way'. The person smiles and begins to rub their belly - hmm okay? - and then stretches out to show me a handfull of change. Now had I not had previous public transportation experiences I may not have understood what this person was trying to say, but lucky for me I put two and two together and realized this person wanted money for food. Now I'd just like to point out that the belly this person was rubbing was nothing short of a buddha belly soo logic would tell me that they probably aren't really that hungry. Anyway, as all of this is happening I realize that this person standing in front of me is deaf or atleast acting like it and then suddenly I remember a conversation that I had with L & T this past weekend ... let me explain. You see L she is a hot young thang and last weekend in particular she was having an issue with receiving a lot of unwanted attention (This is a topic we discuss often because as ladies we don't want to be rude to guys that we don't want to talk to but we also think that they should be able to take a hint). You see this particular night L was getting hit hard with the unwanted attention. The next day as we were discussing the events of the night before we were joking around about how funny it would be for her just to pretend that she was deaf when someone tried to talk to her and then turn around and start talking to us. So, as this person is asking me for money & rubbing their buddha belly, I realize that they are most likely def which reminds me of us telling L to pretend she is deaf and as the scenario plays in my head I basically end up laughing in the deaf person's face by accident. I'm an ahole but T found it comical soo I decided to share...

Well, I am sure that there will be many more posts coming soon considering this weekend T will be turning 22 and our house is about to be overcome with twenty-something (21+) drunk kids... Always makes for a good time (and blog post)!

Love.

Mmmmm cupcakes...

I am really getting into this blogging thing. Maybe after I practice I will have some really good stories to post, or deep thoughts or something... but until then, you get my day-to-day random thoughts and routine...

So, today T and I rocked out to our usual play list on the way to school (maybe me or T will post our songs for reference at a later date). I decided to wear my leather jacket and almost wore my aviators but realized that it would be way too bad ass for anyone on campus to be able to handle, so I opted out.

Stopped at the bake sale table. It looked awesome. Too bad I dont have a pic to post... maybe ill do that another time too. I realized most people were buy cupcakes, so I had the great idea of just having a cupcake sale. Everyone can make a few really big gourmet-type cupcakes and sell them for a little bit more then usual and everyone will love them. Then building operations moved our table near the book store where there is virtually NO TRAFFIC. It was Drama. We had all of our baked goods set out on the table and everyone was loving it! We had to transport everything and hope nothing fell! Nothing did, but its not like it mattered because no one else came to the table anyway...

T and I were on our way to the gym after class and she realized she forgot sneaks so we decided to take a jog on Kelly Drive. T has been training for various marathons that I am sure she will update you on at a later date, but I am trying for the Broad St. run, so I need to get my ass in shape ASAP! The weather was perfect, the river looks pretty at dusk and everyone was out jogging or biking or walking or whatever they do on Kelly Drive.

My only concern with the bikers, and this is not just on KD, its all over Philly, is that they ride entirely too fast and do not slow down if someone is in thier way. They would rather plough right through a pedestrian. So I had bikers zooming past me, scarring me half to death and then I thought, what if I just stuck my hand out in front of one of them. I mean I wouldnt actually let them hit me, I would obviously move my hand out of the way before that happened because I dont want to loose it. But ya know, just to freak them out a little? maybe make them swirve? maybe fall?

JUUUUUSSSSSSTTTTT KIIDDDIIINNNGGG!!! I dont find humor in other people's pain. True Story.

More to come...

the moo man!

So I was pleasantly surprised this afternoon as I was talking to C. Around the corner came the Moo man with a special something for me. The Moo man is a friend of ours and we park at his house for school everyday. He loves all types of moose and periodically doodles these moose.
Seeing that it is my birthday this Sunday (and therefore this entire month) the Moo man gave me an awesome card. The moo man really enjoys peering out his window and watching fellow students walk to and from class. So when he was peering out today, he happened to see me and C. So he took it as an opportunity to give me my special card instead of sneaking it onto my windshield.

Not only was it a birthday card.. but a pre-birthday card.. the party hasn't even happened.

Tomorrow will be another day at adventure climbing and I'm sure there will be some fun stories about that..
xoxo
