Is this real life?!

So, I've been known to do some pretty forgetful things. For example.. the time I was about 14 years old and I forgot my sneakers and realized when I was half way to NYC. Then I had to tell my parents who were arguing about who knows what at the time. It was rough... So I proceeded to walk barefoot to the first shoe store in NY and got the ugliest sneakers ever.
Then there was the time I forgot a jacket while going to NY... again I had to buy one there.

So after preparing for weeks, I finally had my 10 mile race the other weekend in Quakertown. I was pretty stressed out about it, but looking forward to doing it. So it was the morning of the race and I'm getting ready when I realize.. I have two different sneakers packed. First thought.. REALLY? AGAIN? absolutely ridiculous!! Could I wear them and make it work? Thank goodness they were a right and a left shoe!!
So there you have it.. I was the weirdo running with two different shoes... and a bulky knee brace.. that's a professional runner! ha

Overall the race went well and I managed completing it successfully! Plus, I didn't even fall, which I've sadly done too many times.. Hopefully this isn't a reoccurring event.. more to come..

Happy Almost St. Patty's Day!

Almost spring break!

So here I am, avoiding doing my paper.. but I over studied last night so I deserve a break... right?

So I'm strangely looking forward to going to the Flower Show this Friday. I used to go every year with my family and now I sort of miss it. It's a Italian scene this year so that should be exciting as well.
kinda cute right? Well I've also recently tried to keep real plants in my room... it seems to be going down hill though
So i'll have to get some new plants at the flower show that I don't kill.. (Note: I have the nice rose facing out)

Anyways, to continue putting off starting my paper I'll be going to a run on Kelly Drive. Maybe I'll get some missed connections..

Now I just found out what these missed connections are. You find them on craigslist and it has postings from people who believe they had a "moment" with you. I guess if you feel you have had a moment wtih someone you either have to post about it or look for someone who posted about you. Sounds kind of ridiculous to me but apparently it has worked before. Here is what one looks like:

Saw you tonight, and around all the time - m4w - 26 (U_City)

Ever since we were in that class that we both dropped, I see you all over. I saw you tonight in the middle of the street which was pretty unexpected. Basically, I will make it my mission in life to say hello the next time I see you. I try, but kind of freeze up in your presence.

Social media is starting to freak me out...

Okay, so. I have decided that this whole social media phenomena is starting to get a little ridiculous. I mean I love it, its great for networking and keeping in touch with friends but when I can sit through a whole conversation at lunch and already know the story via twitter, facebook and blogs... I start to get concerned.

Maybe I need to do my work or update my resume/cover letter instead of sitting in the tech center knowing whats going on in all of my friends lives... and strangers lives, I should add. I guess there is no turning back now since I am addicted, but it still can get a little weird. We are trying to keep this fairly anonymous so we have something to talk to our friends about on the phone...

Another thing this new social media has been altering is dating... I mean, I have been asked out twice via facebook message. At first I thought it was weird, well I still do kinda. But I am learning to accept it because if you think about it, its not that strange. Most college kids spend A LOT of time on FB and we are all on it all the time. Its part of our way of life, its part of our culture now. So why wouldn't we integrate it into our love lives? Its not anonymous but you do not have to deal with the nerv-racking, talking to someone in person/phone, which is a cop out anyway but it seems to be more and more accepted.

Just something I have been thinking about lately... while procrastinating and not writing my cover letter and sending out my resume...

Highlights of the week...

Ok, so I have been neglecting the blog. Sorry. It's just that time of the semester again where the work load is getting heavy and I have a bajillion tests/assignments/PR club stuff to deal with. And let me tell you, I have been putting a lot of things off fbecause I have become addicted to blogs and twitter and youtube! But a few funny things happened this past week/weekend that I want to share. Ill try to make it kind of short, I tend to ramble...

Last weekend:

- The date with TN... well lets just say that I had to drive to his place. He didnt even think to offer to pick me up, he just assumed I would drive over to him. He told me to be ready by 730 then told me to be at his place at 730. This is all in text messages. I said I thought you were coming to get me and there was no way that at this point in the night I would be able to get to his place by 730... he texted me at 630. WTF?! So then I was pissed. Livid almost. On the drive over I calmed down. I mean at least he had a driveway that I could park in right? WRONG! He didnt park his car straight so I had to drive around and find parking. I dont know. I had a good time with him at dinner and I do like him but he is not doing anything to impress me or show me that he really really likes me.

- We had some friends over to pre-game before hitting the bar. A good friend, we will call her Delco. Diva, decided to have a guy stop by before we all headed out. She had met him a few times but didnt know him very well. But... when he showed up, she came into the kitchen and told us she had no idea who that guy was. She did not recognize him and thought that the person coming over was a different guy. It was hysterical. If that were to happen to anyone, it would happen to the Delco. Diva because her life is out of control and she should probably have her own blog. So we all laughed at her...

- Later on at the bar TN was trying to sext me, I told him I was out with the girls then he wanted me to drive to his place to watch a movie. I didnt even respond. I just dont get it... chivalry is NOT DEAD people! come pick me up if you wanna hang... and dont ask me to drive drunk. geez!

Mardi Gras:
- It was wild... all i remember is taking shots, eating 5 slices of pizza and waking up the next morning feeling full... not hung over, but full... I gave pizza up for lent because of this.

- T and I went to Loie. It was whatever. Something nasty happened in the bathroom between a couple and we thought it was trashy... overall not the best night... but we managed to get really drunk which made the next day really hard.

Tonight... babysitting yayy... money!

Friday, February 20, 2009

So here I am sitting on the couch with R watching the news and tempting her to eat Ritz crackers with me...She is totally taking the bate. This has been a long week for all of us in the house. Everyone is glad its the weekend.

I decided to let myself sleep in and sit on the couch all day. Well I didn't really mean to sit on the couch all day but that's what happened in between my loads of laundry (which I have not done in like 3 weeks).

So here I am debating on if I should jump in the shower now or later. I have this big date with TN tonight. It has been long anticipated. He initially asked me out for V-day but said he had to work so he was going to try to get off. If he couldn't get off Saturday night, he could get off Friday night, but that was the night we were going out for T's birthday bash. Then he suggested Thursday night, but he gets out of class at 10. Then what? we go out for a few drinks and I either take a cab back by myself, which would cost like 20 bucks, or stay over there? I don't think so. That's not much of a date... am I wrong?

I then counter suggested Monday night, it was after V-day but not that much further after that it couldn't be considered a Valentines date. He agreed. Then he told me he had to go home to his moms house to pick some stuff up so he would have to postpone our dinner... really?!

After all this build up he goes and postpones our dinner to tonight. So that brings me to my current dilemma: what to wear. Hmmmm...

Another dilemma that I have been faced with recently is trying to find a job. I know that I should already be contacting people with my resume and cover letter, but I'm scared. I am taking my sweet time writing my cover letter and finding places to send it out to. I am scared because it is completely out of my control, kind of. I know that the job market sucks and I know that I am not going to limit myself to only Philly, so I think I should get a job somewhere. Whether it is in PR or something close to it. My real dream is to go abroad and work in London or Rome. Or Paris or anywhere else in Europe.

Sorry, tangent. I should go find something to wear. Ill write about the big date at some point this weekend. Tomorrow night I get to babysit! I am watching 11 month twin boys. They are so adorable, but tomorrow night they should be asleep before I even get there... I can just bring a book, read on the couch and get paid for it! What a sweet deal. And Im hurting for some cash right now, so it is perfect timing!

Welcome to "Big Girl Club"!

This weekend has been jam packed with birthdays, alcohol, music and great food. Oh yeah, and boys. I also learned how to play my first song on the guitar- Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.

T's birthday was this weekend, she turned 22 and has now been inducted into the what we like to call "Big Girl Club". I will let her tell you all about the weekend, since it was her birthday and I do not remember much of it.

So TN and I have been spending a decent amount of time together over the past two weeks. He is really sweet and I kinda like him. Thursday night he came over and we watched a movie and ate ice cream, just what I needed after a LONG week! Friday he came out after work and met up with us to celebrate T's bday. He also took care of my drunk ass by buying me pizza and making sure I got home safely. What a sweet heart! And any smart guy would know that food is the way to a drunk girls heart! Especially mine. I tend to get in this "zone" when I'm drunk and my stomach becomes a bottomless pit that just needs more and more food. Apparently Saturday night as I was trying to scarf down my second huge slice of pizza, I tried to get everyone to stay so I could go grab another slice. I seriously was not hungry until dinner time on Sunday.

Sunday C and I joined T for her Family Bday dinner at El Vez. It has been a while since I have been there, and let me tell you... I have missed those pomegranate margaritas and corn on the cob SO MUCH! Later, T and I went to The Fire to see a band that we discovered last spring during a show at World Cafe Live.

Illinois is a fun local band and the singer plays a banjo for a few songs. They have a bunch of crazy sounds in their songs but I cant think of any other band I know that I can compare them to. Check them out though if your looking for something new to listen to. Toy Soldier was the other band we saw play. I LOVE them! The singer has such a great voice and hes so cute. They have this blues type sound and you just cant not move to their music.

The Fire is a little hole in the wall that draws a small crowd of Northern Libs locals. I would have never even known about this place if it wasn't for my friend Steph. She pretty much is their marketing intern and helps set up shows and promotes them.

That pretty much sums up the highlights of my weekend. R will have to blog soon, maybe I will assign her a day to make sure she actually contributes!

I'm out...

peace.

asinine!

So L previously mentioned about me and her going on Kelly drive and about how I am into running. Now, I sort of dislike when people talk about working out but since she started it I'll enlighten you on my run the other day. I was dreading this run for about 3 days because I knew it was time for my long run. It needed to be 7 miles in order to be ready for a 1o mile run on march 7. It just so happened that there were winds up to 60 mph this day though. However, I went for it cause Ken-bo, the insane running expert/dad said that I had to be tough.
The wind was sort of similar to this...
and I was sort of similar to this..
Overall, I did survive the run, I'd say it was probably 8 miles though. I mean if you consider the running in place as the wind and I were battling! Only got a few welts from the leaves slapping me in the face.. and I avoided getting to much in my eyes. It also allowed me to see how comical/friendly people can be in philadelphia. Instead of the normal run by and act like you don't see one another, I had people not only smiling but laughing. Apparently they found it ridiculous to be running in the wind as well. It was sort of nice for once. Can't say I'd recommend it, or ever plan to do it again! Thanks Ken-bo, I wasn't able to walk for a few days after!!
